They loved each other with delight To self-oblivion. Devout Was their affection, and the bout Of their strong passion was so bright. He met her when the Sun was setting, And rainbow across the sky Gladdened the kind dreamer’s eye; High in the clouds a lark was singing. They met by accident in the garden, Where thousands of tulips bloomed. The air was filled with sweet perfume, Which was so pleasant and so ardent. Their lips in rapturous elation Whispered the words of gaiety, And lost in sweetest reverie, They lived in a state of admiration. He loved his flame with awe divine, She loved him wholeheartedly. They played with their kind destiny, Together drank their love’s red wine. He showered her with fragrant flowers: Chrysanthemums and lilies. And The orchid petals’ subtle scent Begot their love’s majestic power. The flicker of their happy feelings Flashed like a summer fire-ball And disappeared once and for all, Their parting sorrowful foreboding. O Love! O Love! Eternal love! Bliss, holiness and sufferings You grant to all the human beings, Which they receive from the skies above. Summer 2009 |
